Our Founder
Lauren Ramsey
Lauren M. Ramsey, PhD MPH has contributed extensively to cancer education through Community-Based Participatory Research principles, organizing a “community conversation” to identify health needs. She has evaluated Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program, aimed at preparing at-risk 4-year-olds for school success. As a program coordinator, she managed the day-to-day operations of the Witness Project of Detroit, a faith-based breast cancer education initiative, and contributed to the Detroit Communities Against Diabetes project focused on disease management. Additionally, Lauren developed a toolkit to increase community awareness of health influences.
Lauren earned a BS in Physiology from Michigan State University, an MPH in Health Behavior & Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and a PhD in Family Science with a focus on Maternal and Child Health from the University of Maryland College Park School of Public Health. Her research interests include health disparities, influences on health, and maternal and child health; specifically, the effects of societal factors on health outcomes. Lauren is currently a postdoctoral fellow at a government agency, where she contributes to health programs and evaluation. In her leisure time, she enjoys true crime podcasts, audiobooks, cooking, caring for her plants, and spending time with her daughter and two dogs.
